Glam Essentials for 2012 New Year

1)2012 Color Trends

Violet Twilight is the colorist’s and novice designer’s dream come true – and one of my absolute favorite color palettes for 2012

Blues and violets can be amongst the hardest colors to transform into a successful design, but gray lends its neutral posture to many of the Violet Twilight shades, creating a mix that is far from the sullen, brooding or even cold. This color disposition making many blues difficult to live with, or the adolescent watermark that makes it hard for many purples to grow up.

Violet Twilight offers sophisticated and confident neutrals that have not out-grown the magic that is romance. As a hopeless romantic myself, this is my pick for 2012.

You can add this color trend to any of your New Year's Eve Essentials: Decors, Table Top and Cocktails

2)New Year's Eve Dinner Party

     A. Decors

Disco Balls

I'm pretty sure you have tons of them, in your christmas tree onraments, if they are smaller, bulk and string'em up!. Swap out a some red and green for the ol' mirrored ball and call it New Years! But since one of the color trend for 2012 is violet twilight, if you have hot pink mettalic or purple onion silvery. Enough with the totally non sequitur drawl. Disco balls are still fun and look perfectly contemporary hanging off your chandelier or a dramatic bouquet of branches. Inexpensive or you don't have to spend money if you have it at home and very chic.

B. Table top ideas

If your house is filled with a lot of decors already. This table setting is simple and elegant at it's best already.

B. Candles

Speaking of many and the same, candles are still your best party companion. This simple mantle theme is further proof that 'more' of the same is always good if you're looking for easy impact. These are just simple flower vases with water and tealights, and they look very elegant (though I would hang something above the mantle on that screaming stone wall).

C)Guilty Pleasure

frozen grapes, chocolate & grappa

frozen grapes, chocolate & grappa

Since my favorite pick color trend for 2012 is Violet Twilight, why not go with the frozen grapes, gratta and good quality chocolate. Perfect match, you can't go wrong with chocolates.

ingredients

• a bottle of chilled grappa
• 2 or 3 bunches of frozen grapes (Muscat grapes work really well)
• a few bars of good-quality
chocolate (70% cocoa solids

method

If you’re having a nice night with mates and there’s good wine and some conversation happening then I think this is a lovely thing to bring out a few hours after dinner. It’s like a sorbet, but without the work. Fiery chilled grappa, good-quality chocolate and delicious frozen grapes are a great little combo that show you care and you’ve made a bit of effort. You could either use dark chocolate or a mixture of different flavours, depending on what you fancy.

Put your bottle of grappa and the grapes in the freezer about 2 to 3 hours before you want to serve them. Right before serving; give your bars of chocolate a good whack against the counter to break them up into large chunks.

Pile these chunks in the middle of a nice wooden board, arrange your frozen grapes beside them and serve with a nice little glass of grappa to sip on while you watch the grapes and chocolate disappear. So simple, but such a treat.
